The
Program for Medieval Studies offers a Undergraduate Major in Emory
College in Medieval-Renaissance Studies.
Requirements for Major:
A total of forty hours (ten courses), of which at least thirty-two
hours (eight courses) must be at the 200 level or higher. This
must be distributed as follows:
1. At least four courses (sixteen hours) in one of five approved
areas of medieval studies (art history; history; literature; music;
and philosophy and religion).
2. At least three courses (twelve hours) in a second of these
areas.
3. At least one course (four hours) with significant emphasis
on a medieval language.
4. Eight additional hours:
EITHER a colloquium or senior project in medieval studies, plus
an additional course in medieval studies;
OR, for majors who are admitted to the College Honors Program,
a senior thesis.
